Shaping Charcoal, Revealing Truth

Each piece invites stillness, introspection, and conversation.

He offers reflection.

He offers thoughts.

He offers perspectives.

Tyron is a hyperrealistic charcoal artist based in Cape Town. His work is grounded in the belief that art is a way to speak without words, an emotional language that reaches into the quiet corners of the human soul.

His journey began in junior school, when he was asked to draw a still life. That was the first time he picked up a stick of charcoal and something about its rawness, its mess, its weight hooked him. How could something so chaotic be so precise, so emotional? It became his obsession.

Entirely self-taught, Tyron used drawing as a space to reflect, escape, and explore. Charcoal became a tool for control and expression allowing him to wrestle with complex feelings and shape them into something tangible. He was drawn to its honesty. No filters or color just texture, contrast, and truth.

After taking a long break from creating, Tyron returned with a renewed sense of purpose. His recent work is more intentional, exploring themes of time, silence, memory, imagination, and legacy. Each piece invites stillness, introspection, and conversation.

A recent work titled Legacy depicts a tree growing inside an hourglass with its branches reaching up, its roots anchored in fallen sand. The image is both poetic and precise. It speaks to the idea that while life is long, it only feels that way if we truly invest in the moment we’re in. Legacy is about urgency with purpose and the drive to create something lasting before our time runs out.

Tyron balances his art practice with building The Academy, a platform born from his deep belief that art is not just to be made but to be shared. His passion goes beyond creating his own work. It lies in telling the stories of the artists who move and inspire him daily.
