Ann Rabinowitz
From grief to colour, from silence to expression
Each painting is a reminder to search for light, even in the darkest moments.
Honest.
Uplifting.
Reflective.
Ann is a Cape Town–based abstract artist whose journey into painting was born from one of the most difficult times in her life. While working as a medical professional during the first wave of Covid-19, Ann witnessed trauma, loss, and heartbreak on a daily basis. The overwhelming emotional weight drove her to painting not just as a pastime, but as a vital outlet for expression and healing. What began as a way to process her grief grew into a powerful, ongoing practice that she now shares with the world.
Ann works primarily in acrylics, embracing the freedom and vibrancy of colour, texture, and movement. Guided by instinct rather than rules, her style is rooted in Abstract Expressionism, where each canvas becomes an honest reflection of inner experience. Her work seeks to uplift and inspire, offering moments of joy, peace, and beauty while encouraging reflection.
Based in Sunset Beach, Ann draws inspiration from her natural surroundings, from the rhythm of ocean tides to the shifting moods of light. Since founding Ann Rabinowitz Art in 2021, she has exhibited widely, including solo shows in Sunset Beach and group exhibitions at House Of_, the Art SA Exhibition at Table Bay Mall, and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Through her art, Ann invites viewers into a shared journey, one where vulnerability transforms into colour, and where beauty becomes a bridge to healing.
